Commodores Retreat Unit #104 Review - April 2024

by Severn On

5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Commodore's Retreat in unit 104 from April 14th to the 26th, 2024.
The unit was nice and clean on arrival, and overall, we were very happy with the stay. The location of the building is right on the beach, and it's a beautiful beach. The area is quiet and residential, being a couple of blocks in from Hwy. 30A. It not far to walk to a few restaurants and stores so we felt it was pretty much ideal because our main focus was the beach access. The building was built in the mid 80's, so it's not the most modern looking, but it's decently maintained in my opinion, and unit 104 is similar. It's nicely decorated and has everything you will need for your stay, but don't expect to see high end finishes or a really modern feel. This was fine by us, and I think most people would find it comfortable. It's obviously been updated, and everything worked well for us without any issues or concerns. The laminate flooring is sitting on some uneven subfloor in spots, but I doubt most people would even notice that. The bedroom window is close to the elevator exit outside, and while it has blinds and window coverings, a fair amount of light still gets into the bedroom at night. The light outside at the elevator exit is always on, but frankly, after a few nights we didn't even think about it anymore. We were a bit concerned that we'd hear elevator traffic, but it seemed nobody, including us, even used the elevator for reaching the first floor. One thing I really liked about the building was the available parking under the units which kept your car out of the blazing sun, so this was really nice, and we appreciated it. It's a bit tight for big SUV's, we have a Toyota 4Runner, but had no issue parking in there. We booked through Benchmark, and everything was clear and well organized, and went very well for us. They checked in on us by text and email after our arrival and seem very on the ball, and genuinely want to ensure your all set.

104 Commodores Retreat

We had never been to this part of Florida before. You must stay on the beach unless you don’t mind dragging your kids, beach chairs, umbrella & cooler across 30A everyday.
The view from the porch was fantastic but is right above the gate that you use to come and go from the beach. If you don’t mind listening to the banging of the gate then this is the condo for you.
The elevator was not working during our stay and we did have a drip from the bathroom fan that landed on your head when on the toilet. The Condo was clean but the property could use some attention.
The sofa was hard as a rock and the non stick pans in the kitchen need to be replaced. Parking is tight for a large vehicle. Bike shops are a plenty and will delivery to this property. Commodore’s Retreat is definitely on the quiet side of Santa Rosa so if you are looking for a place to relax, take in a sunset, catch a glimpse of dolphins this is your place.
