A Look Back at 2018 in South Walton

30A Highlights

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the first month of 2019. Last year flew by and we have plenty to keep us busy this year. Before we get too busy and all is forgotten, let’s take a look back at 2018 and some of the highlights of the year.

Grayton Beach became the home of the first underwater museum in the United States. The Cultural Arts Alliance collaborated with South Walton Artificial Reef Association to showcase seven underwater sculptures. The sculptures double as an artificial reef proving to be marine life sanctuaries. The underwater museum is approximately 0.7 miles off the shore in Grayton Beach and 60 feet deep.

Allegiant Airlines at VPS added even more direct flights which makes people happy all over the country! North Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky, and Arkansas were all added to the list of direct air service to Destin, Florida. With low rates and more options, more people are able to enjoy trips to the beautiful Emerald Coast! We are looking forward to more special announcements from Allegiant Airlines this summer.

Grayton Beer Brewpub opened during the summer in the former Craft Bar 30A location. It’s Grayton Beer Company’s second Brewpub offering visitors the experience to dine and drink where the beer is actually brewed. The popular brewery and restaurant is open seven days a week and features over 15 beers on tap, wine, and craft cocktails.

Besides some of these highlights, we’ve had weeks full of gorgeous beach days and delicious coastal cuisine while making memories to last a lifetime. Maybe this will be the year your 30A vacation home becomes your permanent home. Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or staying indefinitely, we’ve got a great year ahead of us!
