What to Eat at the Beach

Ice Cream on the Beach

When you’re visiting the Gulf Coast, you want to make the most of your beach time. Some wait months to visit this slice of paradise and you have so much gear to bring down, you don’t want to have to leave unnecessarily. That’s why we have some tips for you when it comes to lunchtime on the beach. If you prepare ahead of time, you can pack your day full of sand and sunshine.

Pack a picnic - A picnic doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Throw some sandwiches and fruit in a cooler and spread it all out when you get to the beach! You can make sandwiches at home or get them premade at the grocery store. Chicken salad is also great and light. Bring that along with crackers or bread and make everyone a snack. Watermelon is always a great idea for hot days outside. You can cut it at home and put it in a Ziploc bag or try these fruit kabobs that make a perfect summer treat.

Order to go - Depending on what beach access you’re at, there is usually a restaurant nearby. Have someone run over and pick up food to go and enjoy it by the shore. Shunk Gulley is located right at the corner of Highway 393 and 30A. Order some delicious seafood or a light appetizer to share. Next door is Pecan Jack’s, a newer ice cream shop with amazing treats! Try homemade brittle or chocolates and a great variety of ice cream with specialty flavors and toppings. Across the street on the other corner is La Playa which has upscale Mexican food and next door is Sunrise Coffee Company that has sandwiches, smoothies, ice cream, and more. In Seagrove Plaza, you can enjoy Dippin Dots or grab a sub at Subway. In Seagrove and Rosemary Beach, check out Cowgirl Kitchen for delicious food and drinks. Afternoon happy hour features smoked tuna dip and nachos!

Grocery Delivery - Many local grocery stores now offer delivery so you can take advantage of this service to get your beach spread brought right to your 30A condo. Instead of having the whole crew go shopping, take note of everyone’s requests and put it all in your online shopping cart. For most stores, your first delivery is free!

What attracts most people to our Gulf coast is the clean and welcoming beaches. Be sure to pick up after yourself when you leave for the day so no trash is left behind. Bags, plastic, and even some fruit remains (lemon and lime wedges) can be hazardous to marine life as well as pollute the water. We can all do our part to help keep this area beautiful.

We all treasure our time with family relaxing at the beach. Use some of these ideas to make the most of your time out on the sand. Planning ahead will leave more time to enjoy great views with wonderful company.
