5 Reasons to Visit 30A in Spring

Each year, my friends and I debate which season is our favorite along the Emerald Coast. Some of the die-hard beachgoers pick Summer for its endless, sunny days. Some pick Fall because of the cooler weather and thinning crowds. But most of us would pick Spring, and here’s my top 5 reasons why.

5. The Weather is Perfect

As early as March you can be on the beach, especially at mid-day, with temperatures in the 70s during the day and crisp cooler weather at night. Also, the humidity is still much lower during early Spring along 30A. As you move into April, you’ll find warmer weather into the upper 70s and milder evenings in the 60s – perfect for sunning during the day extending into watching the sunset at night.

4. Unbelievable Sunsets

The closer you are to Winter, the further south the sun sets. Since the Gulf of Mexico lies south of 30A, that means the more spectacular the sunsets are. Want a great view? Grab a drink and a bite at Bud & Alley’ Rooftop Bar in Seaside or eat an early-bird dinner at Vue on 30A.

3. Thinner Crowds

During early Spring you’ll find about half the amount of people in the area, which means more precious beach sand to yourself, fewer lines at local boutique shops and restaurants, and more places to choose from for your stay. You might also bump into more locals and get to know resident business owners.

2. Great Local Events

South Walton hosts a number of awesome events during the Spring season. Here are just a few:

Seaside School Race Weekend
A half marathon and 5k race held on March 1st.

South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival
A weekend of great wines, fine food and live music on April 23rd-26th.

Digital Graffiti
A one-of-a-kind projection art festival at Alys Beach on May 15th and 16th.

1. Lower Rates on Accommodations

Because the Summer season is king along the Beaches of South Walton, you’ll spend about 30-40% less on vacation home stays during Spring. Do you need a better reason than that to book an early-season vacation on 30A?
