The Emerald Coast of Florida is famous for its sugar-white sand, its clear waters from the Gulf, and the pretty beach towns that can be found between Panama City Beach and Destin along Scenic Highway 30A. It's not necessary to stay right on the beach to enjoy the area—public access points make it easy to spend a day by the Gulf from anywhere in the region.
The parking facilities, amenities, and beach regulations vary from one location to another. At some of the public entrances, there are parking spaces, restrooms, showers, and accessible facilities. In contrast, the smaller neighborhood access points are generally used by people on foot or by bicycle. The rules also differ between South Walton, Panama City Beach, Destin, and the Florida state parks.
This guide will help you find the right place to enjoy the sand and surf, whether you're exploring 30A, looking for a dog-friendly beach, or deciding between Panama City Beach, Destin, and 30A for your next Emerald Coast vacation.

30A Public Beach Access

The scenic Highway 30A includes regional beach access points, smaller neighborhood entrances, state parks, and beachfront areas, each with different rules for public use. Since access conditions can vary, tourists should use the clearly marked entrances and obey the posted signs.
The regional beach access points in South Walton offer parking spaces, restrooms, showers, bike racks, surf-condition flags, and seasonal lifeguards; some also provide ADA access. The smaller access points in the neighborhood are usually intended for people who come by foot and generally lack the same facilities.
South Walton also divides its beaches into those for full public use, limited public use, and private beaches. Since access details can change, the South Walton beach access map is a useful resource for locating the nearest entrance and for checking the current amenities and beach-use information.
When looking at the beaches along 30A, there are several regional access points to consider.
Dune Allen Beach Access
Dune Allen Regional Beach Access is situated at the western end of Scenic Highway 30A, making it a convenient choice for those spending time at both Dune Allen Beach and Santa Rosa Beach.
If you are looking to combine a day at the beach with a visit to the adjacent coastal towns, then this section of 30A is also an excellent starting point.
Ed Walline Regional Beach Access
Ed Walline Regional Beach Access is close to Gulf Place, making it convenient for tourists who want to combine a day at the beach with shopping and dining.
It is one of the larger public access points in South Walton for beach access. Visitors should review South Walton’s current beach-access map before going out to get the most up-to-date information on facilities and conditions.
Blue Mountain Beach Regional Access

Blue Mountain Beach Regional Access offers yet another way to reach the Gulf via Scenic Highway 30A.
The community around there provides a relaxed atmosphere for a holiday on the Emerald Coast, and by choosing a vacation rental in Blue Mountain Beach, you can also get near the Gulf as well as several of the neighboring 30A communities.
Santa Clara Regional Beach Access
People visiting the Seagrove Beach area might go to Santa Clara Beach for a day at the Gulf.
As amenities may change, it is advisable to check South Walton's official beach-access information before going to find out the most up-to-date details regarding parking, accessibility, and facilities.
Inlet Beach Regional Access
In the eastern part of the 30A area, there are regional access points for East Inlet Beach, Central Inlet Beach, and West Inlet Beach. Currently, the beach access information provided by Walton County lists these as distinct access points, and the parking and facilities differ from one to another.
Staying at an Inlet Beach vacation rental puts you close to this part of Scenic Highway 30A and nearby coastal communities.
Beach Access Near Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach

If you're considering visiting Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach, you should know that beach access may vary depending on your accommodation.
Certain holiday properties offer their guests designated or exclusive access to the beach. The South Walton area offers Rosemary Beach as an example of a place where rental and vacation properties can provide guests with exclusive beach access. Visitors need to check with their accommodation to see if access is included rather than assuming that every nearby path is public.
There are also county-managed access points in the surrounding area. Although there are public access sites in the region near the eastern end of 30A, these should not be regarded as the official beach entrances for Rosemary Beach or Alys Beach.
If you intend to visit Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach during your trip, refer to the official South Walton map to locate nearby public entrances, and check with your vacation rental provider to confirm any community-specific beach access.
Panama City Beach Public Beach Access
There are several public access spots along the coast of Panama City Beach. While, some of them have public parking, a great many don't. You should use the official Panama City Beach access map to locate an entrance and check the parking arrangements before you leave your rental.
Several convenient beach-access areas include:
Rick Seltzer Park
Rick Seltzer Park, located at 7419 Thomas Drive, provides the public with beach access and parking facilities. It also features restrooms, water access, a swimming area, and other amenities.

Dog-Friendly Beach Access in Panama City Beach

If you want to take your dog on vacation, Panama City Beach has a dog-friendly beach on the west side of the Russell-Fields City Pier, close to Pier Park.
The City of Panama City Beach states that dogs are allowed in this particular beach area, provided they are on a leash, and that pet owners must clean up after their dogs.
If you are there, don't forget that just because you book a pet-friendly rental doesn't mean your dog can go to the nearest 30A beach.
Destin Public Beach Access
Destin has several public beach parks and trails, each offering different amenities. According to the City of Destin, pets, fires, fireworks, glass, littering, and vehicles are not permitted on its beaches.
Henderson Beach State Park
Henderson Beach State Park has over a mile of Gulf shoreline and includes parking, picnic facilities, restrooms, and accessible amenities. There is an admission charge at the park.
At the moment, further planning is needed before going to the park. The day-use reservation system was introduced by Florida State Parks at Henderson Beach State Park on May 15, 2026, and now requires all visitors to have a reservation to enter.
It's a good idea to check the Henderson Beach State Park website for the most up-to-date information on reservation rules before you go, since these rules are subject to change.
Shore at Crystal Beach Park
The Shore at Crystal Beach Park is located in the Crystal Beach section of Destin and offers access to the Gulf.
The public park includes a pavilion, picnic tables, restrooms, and showers, with limited parking.

Tips for Visiting Emerald Coast Beaches

Making plans in advance can greatly simplify your day at the beach. Below are a few tips to help make sure you have the best beach visit on 30A!
Before you leave, make sure you check your beach access. Parking, restrooms, showers, and accessible facilities vary from one location to another. You can use the official access map to avoid arriving at a spot where the facilities you need are unavailable.
Take note of the signs that are posted. The arrangements for beach access differ across South Walton, Panama City Beach, Destin, and Florida state parks.
Not all beach walkovers are open to the public. In South Walton, there are three types of beach access: full public use, limited public use, and private beaches. Before you visit the beach, make sure it is fully open to the public for the best experience.
Before you go into the water, check the beach flags because the Emerald Coast makes use of them to indicate surf conditions. You should check the flag on your access point and observe the local safety rules.
If you are taking a dog with you, you should plan ahead, since Panama City Beach has a dedicated Dog Beach, but for beaches in Walton County dog permits are only issued to certain landowners or residents.
Make sure that the beach remains clean. When you leave, take with you your chairs, umbrellas, toys, and any other things that you brought.
Before you leave, take a few minutes to check your access to the beach; this way, you'll spend less time searching for parking and more time enjoying the beaches of the Emerald Coast.
